Seven Generations Later, Wanda is Continuing to Make an Impact.

As a seventh-generation Ottawa native, it’s easy to see why Wanda Craig Clark has such a strong connection to her family’s deep roots in the area. She comes from a long line of entrepreneurs and active citizens. In fact, her great, great, great, great grandfather was the original founder of Huntley Township, which ultimately became part of the city of Ottawa. Wanda’s grandparents owned a general store and her parents were enterprising owners of several local businesses. Her father had a sand and gravel business and ultimately became a successful real estate entrepreneur.

The Path to Success

Wanda herself opened a costume rental and party supply store after earning her degree in Fashion Design. She designed and sewed her own intricate costumes and turned that into a successful business venture that she ran with the help of other members of her family. But if you ask Wanda, she’ll tell you she was destined for a career in real estate. Prior to starting her costume business, she worked with her father’s investment firm doing all the behind-the-scenes tasks that no one else wanted to do. From gathering detailed information about properties to making sales calls, Wanda did it all with a smile on her face and an understanding that she was learning—from the ground up—all about real estate.

Family Foundation

	Nothing is more important to Wanda than her family, which includes husband Brian and their four children, Nolan, Colton, KaraLee and Travis.

When it came time to take the next step in her career, Wanda knew real estate was in her blood. While in high school, she actually bought her first property, a five-acre parcel of land in Kanata, where she vowed to someday plant her own roots, build her dream home and raise her family. With her husband, Brian, and their four children, it’s safe to say this dream has come true. Whether it’s a quiet evening at home or a day on the go-kart track (all the kids have their own karts and travel to races throughout the province), family time is what Wanda values most.

“Everyone in our family was very close when I was growing up,” Wanda says. “It has always been important to nurture this tight-knit feeling and share our rich family history with my own children, so they can stay connected to their roots in this community.”
